Visa Exemption Agreement Between Vietnam – Switzerland

Agreement between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Swiss Federal Council on visa exemption for diplomatic passport holders. The agreement was signed on May 22, 2009, effective on August 16, 2009.

Have agreed as follows:

Article 1: Appointed diplomatic and consular officers

1. Citizens of the Contracting Parties holding valid diplomatic passports, being members of diplomatic missions, consulates or permanent agencies of their State at international organizations, with headquarters in the territory of the other Contracting Party, are exempt from visa to enter or stay in the territory of the other Contracting Party throughout the term of office. The sending country needs to notify the host country in advance of the rank and duties of the above-mentioned persons through diplomatic channels.

2. The people mentioned in Clause 1 of this Article will be granted residence papers by the host country.

3. The provisions stated in Clauses 1 and 2 of this Article also apply to family members living in the same household of the people mentioned in Clause 1 under the condition of being recognized by the host country, and holding diplomatic passports. Valid.

Article 2: Attend appointments, conferences and official visits

1. Citizens of the Contracting Parties, holding valid diplomatic passports, attending meetings and conferences organized by an organization that has signed a headquarters agreement with the other Contracting Party or by the Government of the Contracting Party, are exempt from visas to enter the other Contracting Party and stay for not more than 90 days in each 180-day period, provided that they do not have a gainful activity or are employed in that Contracting Party.

2. In case this person enters Swiss territory after transiting one or more countries to which all regulations on exemption from customs checks at the borders between countries and abolition of travel restrictions apply. freedom of movement in the Schengen Agreement, a period of 90 days from the date of entry to the external border of the free movement zone of these countries.
