Visa Exemption Agreement Between Vietnam – Italy

According to the Agreement between the Government of Vietnam and the Government of Italy on visa exemption for diplomatic passport holders. The agreement was signed on July 13, 2010, effective from January 20, 2012:

  • (1) Citizens of the Contracting Parties, holders of valid diplomatic passports, and not accredited in the territory of the other Contracting Party, shall be exempt from visa requirement to enter, transit through, stay on and leave the territory of the receiving State up to ninety (90) days (in one or several periods) within six (6) months, since the day of arrival in the territory of the host State. For citizens of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the period of ninety (90) days mentioned above shall begin from the date of first entry in Schengen Area.
  • (2) This Agreement does not exempt the members of diplomatic mission, consular posts as well as representatives of international organizations, located in the territory of the other Contracting Party, as wel their family members holding valid diplomatic passports, from the visa obligation for their accreditation before the host State. The above mentioned persons, after the accreditation, may enter, transit through, stay on and leave the territory of the host State without visa during the period of their assignment.
  • Citizens of the Contracting Parties, holders of diplomatic passports mentioned ni Articles (1) and (2) of this Agreement, may enter or leave the territory of the other Contracting Party at all border crossing points open to international passengers’ traffic.

Note: Vietnamese authorities unilaterally have granted Italian citizens a visa exemption for 45 days, allowing them to enter Vietnam without the need to obtain a visa in advance.

Vietnam has unilaterally granted Danish citizens a visa exemption for a period of 45 days. This means that Danish passport holders can enter Vietnam without needing to obtain a visa in advance for stays of up to 45 days.

On August 30, 2007, the Governments of Vietnam and the Dominican Republic signed an agreement that exempts diplomatic and official passport holders from visas. The agreement became effective on September 29, 2007.

On September 11, 2015, the Governments of Vietnam and Cyprus signed an agreement to exempt holders of diplomatic and official passports from visa requirements. The agreement became effective on August 10, 2016.

The Vietnamese and Cuban governments signed an agreement on visa exemption for their citizens on August 31, 1981. The agreement is currently in effect.

On October 29, 2009, the Governments of Vietnam and Croatia signed an agreement to exempt diplomatic and official passport holders from visas. The agreement became effective on March 27, 2010.
