One of the most important requirements that you need to have when traveling to Vietnam is a visa. Some travelers may be eligible for a visa-free entry, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Vietnamese authorities have currently suspended this.
Foreigners who plan to visit Vietnam nowadays are required to have a visa, regardless of the country they came from. If you are planning to visit Hoi An and you’re flying into Chu Lai Int’l Airport, you can apply for the Vietnam landing visa. Also known as the visa on arrival, the Vietnam landing visa is the type of visa that you can only get the moment you arrive in Vietnam.
But before you can be given this visa, you are required to apply for it in advance, before your actual flight. Once your visa is approved, Vietnam Immigration will issue a pre-approval letter. This letter is proof that you will get a Vietnam visa once you arrive in the country.
Here’s how to apply for the Vietnam landing visa at Chu Lai International Airport.
The Vietnam landing visa is one of the visas that foreigners going to Vietnam as a tourist can use. It’s more commonly known as the visa on arrival since it is only issued once the tourist arrives in Vietnam. But as stated above, before this visa will be issued, the foreigners are required to apply for it in advance. They can send their application for the Vietnam landing visa online or directly through a Vietnam embassy or consulate.
When the visa application is approved, a pre-approval letter will be issued. The letter will be sent to the applicant via email. This must be printed and shown at the Visa Landing counter in Chu Lai International. A visa stamp will then be attached to the passport of the foreign traveler.
Approval Letter for Vietnam Landing Visa
Since we are still in the middle of a pandemic, the Vietnamese authorities have required all foreigners visiting the country to have a sponsor company. The sponsor company must request permission for the foreigner to enter the country. If the visit is approved, an entry permit will be issued. The entry permit must be submitted when applying for the Vietnam landing visa.
If you’re going to Hanoi via Chu Lai Int’l Airport and you wanted to apply for the Vietnam landing visa, here’s how you can do it.
👉 1. As mentioned, you need to have a sponsor company that can request the entry permit. If you don’t have any sponsor company, you can contact a Vietnam-based agency that will be willing to sponsor your trip to Vietnam.
👉 2. Once the entry permit is issued, you can start to apply for a landing visa. You can apply online or go to a Vietnam embassy or consulate.
👉 3. When your visa is approved, they will issue the pre-approval letter. You can claim the letter from the embassy or receive it in your email if you applied online. Make sure you bring this letter with you on your trip to Vietnam.
👉 4. Upon your arrival at Chu Lai International Airport, look for the Visa landing counter. Here, show your passport and then present the pre-approval letter. Pay for the stamping fee and the Vietnam visa will then be attached to your passport.
Since you are entering Vietnam during the pandemic, there will be additional requirements that you will be asked to submit when you apply for your Vietnam landing visa. Here they are:
👉 Hotel booking for quarantine – all travelers entering Vietnam will have to undergo a 14-day quarantine. Those who have been vaccinated will only need to quarantine for 7 days. When you apply for your visa, you will be asked to show proof of the hotel booking. You can stay at any of the hotels and resorts in Hoi An that have been designated as quarantine facilities.
👉 Travel Insurance – foreign visitors to Vietnam will be required to have travel insurance that comes with Covid-19 coverage. The insurance will pay for your hospitalization in case you get sick with Covid-19 while in Vietnam. Those who have no insurance must be willing to pay for their treatment. Otherwise, they will have to ask their sponsor company to submit a document stating that they would be willing to shoulder the cost of treatment in case they get sick with Covid-19.
Welcome to Chu Lai Airport
All foreign visitors arriving at Chu Lai International Airport will undergo medical checks. Those who are showing symptoms of the virus will be isolated. They will be tested for Covid-19 and if the result is positive, they will be taken to the hospital to be treated. But for those who have no symptoms, can proceed to their booked hotel directly and start their quarantine. Since they won’t be allowed to take a taxi or any public transportation, the hotel where they will have their quarantine will send a vehicle to pick them up.
