Citizens of Malta are eligible to avail of the Vietnam e-visa, an online version of a Vietnam visa that will allow foreign visitors to gain entry into the country. This visa can be used for both business and tourism purposes.
Initially, the e-visa was made available only to citizens of more than 40 countries. However, due to the success of their e-visa program, they have decided to increase the number of countries that will be eligible for the visa. Nowadays, the e-visa is available to citizens of more than 80 countries and that includes Malta.
The biggest advantage of this visa is that it will be obtained online and the process is pretty straightforward. Therefore, you don’t need to visit a Vietnam consulate or embassy just to get an authorization to travel to Vietnam. All you basically need is to access the Internet and fill out the application form from the website.
After 2 -3 working days, you will receive an email regarding the status of your visa. You will be asked to click on a link and enter the registration code that was provided to you. Print the e-visa and bring it on your trip to the country.
The Vietnam e-visa is an electronic travel authorization that foreign visitors will present at the passport control in order for the passport to be stamped. Since it’s an electronic document, you will have to apply for it online. Once approved, the e-visa will be available in the form of a PDF document that you can simply download and print.
Applying for the Vietnam electronic visa is very straightforward. You just need to access the website, provide the details that are being asked from you can make a payment. The payment must be done online as well and you can use your credit card or debit card.
The entire process of applying for the e-visa will only take a few minutes to be completed. Of course, this will also depend on how fast your Internet is. It’s very important that you review the information before you proceed to the next page. If you end up entering incorrect details, the processing of your visa will be delayed further. Also, if the details won’t match with your passport, the immigration officer will not allow you to enter the country.
Most of the e-visa applications are done very quickly and could be approved in as fast as 3 business days. If you need the visa urgently, you can have it expedited for an added fee. But if you don’t want to pay, it is best to apply for your visa as early as possible. To be sure, apply for your visa at least two weeks before your flight.
So the first thing that you need to do is to go online, access the website and fill out the online application form. Provide the details very carefully and make sure they are correct. It’s very important that you answer the questions very accurately in order not to cause any delays and avoid issues. You will also be asked about your flight details. Provide your date of entry and exit in the country.
If you are certain, proceed to the next page for the payment of processing fee. So get your credit card or debit card and make a payment. When the payment is successful, you will receive a confirmation about this, along with a registration code. Take note of the code because you’ll use this later to download the e-visa copy.
After you submit your e-visa online, wait for 3-5 business days and you will receive an email for the status of your visa. If after 5 business days, you still have not received an email, get in touch with the Vietnam Immigration Dept. and ask for the status. They will normally provide you a link where you can enter the registration code to download the e-visa copy.
If your e-visa is approved, it will be available for you to download. It’s highly recommended to save a copy on your phone or laptop. After this, print a copy and bring this to your trip to the country. If possible, print two copies of the e-visa. That way, you will have a spare copy just in case you will lose the other one.
As you arrive at the airport of Vietnam, proceed immediately to the Immigration area. Provide your passport and e-visa to the immigration officer. Your passport will then be stamped, which means you can now proceed to the arrival lounge to claim your bags. Make sure you carry a copy of the e-visa with you anywhere you are in Vietnam.
