Are you from Switzerland and thinking of going on a vacation to Vietnam? If you are, then you should start applying for an e-visa now. That’s because you are among those nationalities that are eligible to avail of this new electronic visa. With this option, you can get a visa to Vietnam in as fast as 24 hours! There’s no need to queue or to go to the Vietnam embassy near you since everything is done online.
It was in February 2017 that the Vietnam Government introduced the e-visa program. Under this program, eligible foreigners don’t need to go through the hassles of visiting a Vietnam embassy for their visa. By making it easier for foreigners to apply for their visa, Vietnam hopes to attract more visitors. They want more people to come and discover the country’s unique sights and attractions.
Vietnam e-visa is just like the usual visa that foreigners will need to obtain to be able to enter Vietnam. However, instead of applying for the visa personally, you just need to go online to submit your application. It is for this reason why it’s the most preferred method of getting a visa to Vietnam. Once the visa is approved, it will be sent to you by email and you can download it in PDF form. All you will do is save a soft copy of the visa and print it out to bring on your trip.
When the e-visa was first launched, it was only available to more than 40 countries. But because of its success, the government of Vietnam has decided to offer it to more than 80 nationalities, including the Swiss.
The e-visa has a validity of 30 days from your entry date. If you’re going to extend your stay, you need to get in touch with an agency that can re-apply the visa for you and sponsor your stay. Take note that the visa is valid only for a single entry.
Aside from the fact that applying for the e-visa is so easy, the requirements needed are easy to obtain as well. So here are the requirements that you need to prepare:
The standard processing time of the e-visa is 3 business days. But you can also request for a rush processing if you need it very urgently. Here are the processing times:
For rush and super rush processing, you can expect to pay around $40 to $50. The standard processing fee will only cost you around $25. Remember that the processing fee is not refundable so even if your e-visa is rejected, you cannot request a refund.
Please Vietnam visa fees for update.
Remember that the Vietnam e-visa will let you stay in the country for a maximum of 30 days or one month. It’s possible to request a visa extension but you’ll have to look for an agency that can re-apply for the visa on your behalf. Of course, this comes with a fee.
If you are planning to stay in Vietnam for more than 30 days, the Visa on Arrival might be a better option for you. With this visa, you can stay up to 60 days and enter the country several times within the period since it’s a multiple-entry visa.
When you enter Vietnam, head to the Passport Control counter and give your e-visa copy and passport. If you’re traveling with your child, he or she must have a separate e-visa, unless you share your passport with your child.
