In an effort to attract more foreign visitors to come to Vietnam, the Vietnam Immigration Department has rolled out the e-visa program. This program allows foreigners from more than 80 countries to apply for a visa online. Fortunately, this includes citizens of Luxembourg. So if you’re thinking of going to Vietnam soon, grab your computer now so you can start applying for your Vietnam visa.
But first, you may want to know what an e-visa is. The Vietnam e-visa, also known as an electronic visa, is an online document that will allow foreign visitors to enter Vietnam. This visa was first introduced last February of 2017. Initially, the visa was only granted to foreigners of 40 different countries. But because of its success, the Vietnam government has decided to make it available to more than 80 nationalities and Luxembourg nationals are among them.
So what are the requirements that you need to prepare for the e-visa for citizens of Luxembourg? Refer below for the list of requirements:
The Vietnam e-visa is a single entry visa that will allow you a maximum stay of 30 days in the country. With this visa, citizens of Luxembourg can enjoy a one-month holiday to Vietnam. But for those who wanted to stay for longer than 30 days, there’s an option to apply for visa extension. This must be done while you’re in Vietnam and you need to look for an agency that can sponsor your stay and will process the visa on your behalf. Of course, this comes with a fee.
There are other types of Vietnam visa that citizens of Luxembourg can also avail. The Vietnam Visa on Arrival, for instance, will grant them a stay in Vietnam for a maximum of 90 days. This is ideal for those who intend to stay in Vietnam for the long-term. What’s also great about this type of visa is that it will give you multiple entry privileges. This means that you can enter the country using the visa for more than once. However, for this type of visa, you will be required to queue at the visa counter at the airport as you arrive. Also, this visa can only be used to enter Vietnam through its airports. So if you are entering via a land border or a seaport, this will not work.
You can apply for the Vietnam e-visa in three easy steps:
Once you have your e-visa copy, print it out to bring it to your trip to Vietnam. This is what you will show the immigration officer upon entry, along with your passport.
It will usually take 3 – 5 business days for the e-visa to be processed. But sometimes, this can take longer especially when it’s the peak season. Since there are usually a large number of tourists visiting during this time, then the processing time could be longer. So it is important that you apply for your e-visa as early as possible. Two weeks should be ample time to allow for your visa to be processed.
Each individual traveler should have his or her own e-visa copy when entering Vietnam. Therefore, you cannot apply for multiple travelers in one e-visa application.
You need to contact Vietnam immigration immediately as soon as you have noticed a mistake on your e-visa application. That way, they can rectify your visa and avoid any issues when entering the country.
No, you can only enter in Vietnam within the date specified on your e-visa. If you come earlier than that, you will be denied entry to the country.
