Are you a Norwegian citizen and thinking of going to Vietnam for a holiday? If you are, then it’s time to apply for your visa. As a citizen of Norway, you’re one of those foreign visitors that need a visa to enter the country. Luckily, it’s now easy to get a visa to Vietnam, thanks to the introduction of the e-visa. With the e-visa, all you need to do is go online and fill out an application form.
It was in 2017 when the Vietnam government introduced the e-visa program. This is part of their plan of attracting more foreign visitors into the country. That’s because the country relies on tourism as one of its main sources of income. Vietnam is a beautiful country with lots of beautiful places to see, so it’s not really a surprise why thousands of Norwegians are enticed to visit.
The Vietnam e-visa is one of the latest visas that the Government of Vietnam is offering to foreign visitors. This is an electronic version of the standard visa and can only be obtained online. The Vietnam Immigration has an online facility that can process the visa and approve those who are eligible to enter Vietnam. Once approved, it will be sent to you via email in a PDF format, which you can download and print.
When the e-visa program was first launched, only citizens of 46 countries were eligible. But due to the success of the program, they have made it available to more than 80 countries and that includes Norway.
As a single-entry visa, the Vietnam e-visa can only be used to enter the country once. Its validity is only 30 days or one month. Before the visa expires, you need to be able to get out of the country. Otherwise, you will be slapped with a penalty. You can have the visa extended but it can only be done by an agency in Vietnam that can sponsor your stay.
You don’t need to submit several requirements or documents when applying for the Vietnam e-visa, which is why it’s a great option to consider. The requirements are almost the same as the requirements when you apply for other types of visas. Below are the requirements that a Norwegian passport holder should prepare when getting an e-visa:
The processing time of the Vietnam e-visa will vary. When applying for the e-visa, you’ll be asked to choose the processing time that you will prefer. Normally, the standard processing time is 3 business days. But there are situations where the visa will take longer to be processed. This is usually the case during the peak season.
You can also choose the rush processing option for your visa. With the rush processing, you will get your e-visa within the day. As for the super rush processing, you’ll get it in as fast as 8 hours!
It’s $25 (non-refundable) if you apply for an e-visa at the government website https://xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn
The processing cost of the e-visa for applying an e-visa through an agency will depend on some factors such as your passport’s country, purpose of visit, the processing time that you have chosen. For standard processing, this will only cost you from $35. But if you will choose rush processing, prepare to pay around $50. For the super rush processing, it will cost you around $90.

Once you receive your copy of the e-visa, print it out and carry this document on your trip. This is what you will show the Vietnam Immigration Dept. upon entering the country. You will also give the officer a copy of your passport.
If possible, print two copies of the e-visa so you will have something extra in the event that the other copy will get lost. You are required to bring a copy of the visa with you at all times during your stay in Vietnam.
