In order to invite more foreign visitors into their country, the Vietnam Government has launched the e-visa policy. Under this policy, citizens of Macau and some other nationalities can get their visas over the Internet.
Also called the electronic visa, the e-visa is a travel authorization document that functions as a regular visa. But instead of acquiring it from an embassy, this visa can be obtained by going online. There’s an online facility where you can submit your visa application. This will then be sent to the Vietnam Immigration for processing. After about 3 business days, you will receive an email that will tell you how to go about downloading a copy of the e-visa. If you’re from Macau, here’s what you should know about this new Vietnam e-visa.
The e-visa for citizens of Macau is a type of visa that a foreign traveler can obtain from Vietnam’s Immigration Dept. It’s very convenient to apply. Instead of visiting an embassy to personally send in your application, you just have to go online. And unlike the Visa on Arrival that requires you to queue at the airport, this visa doesn’t require that. Just fill out the form online and wait for an email. Once you have a copy of the e-visa, you can use that to enter the country and start your holiday.
This visa is not available to all nationalities. It’s only being offered to citizens of 81 countries and that includes the citizens of Macau. Your e-visa will allow you a single entry to the country with a stay of up to 30 days. For those who wanted to extend, they can look for an agency that can sponsor them and reapply their visa.
It will only take 3 business days for the e-visa to be processed. But there are times when the Vietnam Immigration will receive tons of applications. This is especially the case during the busy season. So to avoid any problems, it is best to apply for the e-visa as early as you can.
It’s so easy to apply for the e-visa. Just make sure you have your passport ready. You can do the application over your computer or mobile phone. Here’s how to go about it:
It’s worth noting that the processing fee is non-refundable. So if you choose to cancel your trip, you can no longer get your money back. This is also the case of your visa is denied. You can’t be refunded for the processing fee you paid.
After submitting the application online, wait for a few days for them to process your visa. This should take around 3 business days. When your visa is approved, you’ll be given a link where you can download the e-visa. Enter the code and save a copy of the e-visa on your computer or mobile phone.
Print at least two copies of the e-visa. Keep the other copy and use the other copy to enter the country. When you arrive in Vietnam, go directly to Passport Control. Give your passport and e-visa and the officer will then stamp your passport for entry.
As you see, the process of applying for the Vietnam e-visa for Macau citizens is so easy. It’s not too complicated unlike when you apply through the embassy. Plus, there’s no need to queue at the visa counter at the airport. But to avoid any issues, make sure you double-check the information you entered. This is to avoid any mistakes that could delay your visa. You also need to remember that any inconsistencies in the information in your e-visa could put you at risk of getting denied. So be very careful with your e-visa application.
