Like most of the countries around the world, Vietnam was quick enough to close its borders when the Covid-19 pandemic started last year. Indeed, Vietnam’s efforts have been a success, since the country recorded very few cases compared to its neighboring countries. So in November of last year, Vietnam decided to open its borders. However, authorities have only allowed “essential” visitors to enter. These are visitors who have very important reasons to visit, such as foreign entrepreneurs, business managers, and skilled workers. If you are a Thai citizen and you need to enter Vietnam to conduct business, then you need to apply for a business visa.
Thai citizens who wish to visit Vietnam these days should apply for a visa. That’s because the visa exemption program is currently suspended. Before the pandemic, Thais are eligible for visa-free entry to Vietnam. But this is no longer the case these days. The only way that Thai businessmen can enter is to apply for a business visa. Also, they need to have a sponsor company that will apply for the visa on their behalf.

Here are the steps on how to apply for a business visa to Vietnam during this Covid-19 season.
The process of applying for a business visa to Vietnam is somewhat different now. Before, you can apply for your visa directly from the Vietnam Immigration Department. But nowadays, you need to have a sponsor company that will be responsible for applying for the business visa.
Aside from the business visa, you also need to have insurance that comes with Covid-19 coverage. That way, if you get sick of Covid-19 while in Vietnam, the insurance will cover the cost of treatment. But if you don’t have insurance, your sponsor company should sign an agreement that they will shoulder the cost of your treatment if you will get infected with the Covid-19 virus during your stay in Vietnam.
Since the Covid-19 virus is still fast spreading around the world, Vietnamese authorities would want to ensure that none of the foreign visitors are carrying the virus. Therefore, all visitors will be asked to submit a negative Covid-19 test aside from undergoing the 14-day quarantine.
The Covid-19 test should be performed at least 3 to 5 days before flying to Vietnam. It should be performed by a WHO-certified laboratory in Thailand. The certificate should indicate that the visitor is negative of the Covid-19 virus. This certificate should be presented when boarding a flight to Vietnam.
Aside from submitting a Covid-19 test result, all visitors will have to quarantine for 14 days upon their entry to Vietnam. They should book their hotel before their flight. The government of Vietnam has provided a list of hotels that are intended for quarantine, so you need to choose from any of these hotels for your quarantine. The cost already includes your meals for the entire 14 days stay.
Since all foreign visitors are prohibited from taking public transport before their quarantine, a pre-booked vehicle is also required. The vehicle must pick-up the foreign visitor from the airport going to the hotel for quarantine. While in quarantine, the visitor must not leave their hotel and must avoid contact with anyone outside of their hotel room.
