Here’s how to apply for a visa approval letter

1. First, fill out the details that are being asked from you on the visa application form. Review everything and make sure that the spelling is correct. When you’re certain that they are correct, go ahead and submit the form.

2. After you submit the visa application form, we are going to start processing the visa on your behalf. We will forward your application to Vietnam’s Department of Immigration for approval.

When your visa application is approved, we will send you an email for your pre-approval letter. You will also receive a blank application form (Vietnamese-visa-application-form (Form NA1)). Print the approval letter and the form and fill out the form correctly. Bring these with you to Vietnam.

How long does it takes to get the approval letter? [show answer]

Normally, the visa approval letter is processed and delivered to your email within one or two working days (excluding Saturday, Sunday and National Holidays), in some case we need 3 working days to get it approved and send it to your email address.

Rush service is available with extra charge, you are advised to calculate visa fee before making visa application.

How do I receive my visa approval letter? [show answer]

A colored scan of the visa approval letter will be sent to your email after we get it from the Immigration Department of Vietnam, please make sure to provide us valid email addresses.

Normally the scan of Visa Approval letter will be in .PDF or .JPEG format.

After receive the visa approval letter, you should print a copy of it (black and white is OK) and bring it with you. You are not allowed to board the airplane if you dont have the visa approval letter & You are not allow to pick your visa on arrival if you dont have a copy of it.

To get this approval letter, you – the visa applicant is required to submit a Vietnam Visa application online with us. All your information will be sent to Vietnam Immigration Department for checking and approving. Then the Visa approval letter will be sent to your email address.

Once you have this visa approval letter, it means you are allowed to pick up your visa on arrival at the airport. You need to print a copy of it for boarding and getting the visa at Vietnam airport.

In order to board the plane, you must show the approval letter to the airlines. This letter is also compulsory in order for you to get the visa at the Vietnam airport.

Therefore, we recommend that you leave plenty of time to apply for the visa to avoid having to delay or change your flight.

– Prepare all documents in hand before you go, including your original passport, the visa approval letter, stamping fee in cash and the Vietnamese visa application form (form NA1). Please print a copy of the visa approval letter and check it again to make sure no error or mistake. The Vietnamese visa application form (form NA1) should be filled, signed and attached photo in advance.

– Prepare cash to pay for the stamping fee on arrival with exact amount in USD (US$25 for single entry visa | US$50 for multiple entry visa) to save your time on money exchange (USD is recommended). Credit card is not accepted and there is no ATM also.

– Priority is available if you travel with children or seniors. Please ask the immigration officers or other travelers for priority.

Are there any exceptions with this type of visa? [show answer]

Yes, visa on arrival is NOT VALID for OVERLAND ENTRY.

The four international airports in Vietnam that you can receive your visa stamp with this approval letter are: Noi Bai airport (Ha Noi city), Tan Son Nhat airport (Ho Chi Minh City city), Cam Ranh airport (Nha Trang city) and Da Nang airport (Da Nang city).

New update : Visa On Arrival now accept at Cat Bi Internation Airport in Hai Phong city, Lien Khuong Internation Airport in Da Lat city.

Do I need to provide scan of my passport for making my visa application? [show answer]

In most cases, a passport scan is not required. However, sometimes the Immigration Officers need to verify the information you provide, you are required to send them a scan copy of your passport. In such cases, we will notify you by email immediately.

Update : We now launched easy application form online which allows applicant upload scanned copy of your passport’s bio page to avoid typo error. If you don’t want to type your passport information on the application form, you can upload a copy of your passport’s bio page.

How many photos I need for visa on arrival? What is its size? [show answer]

For getting visa on arrival, aside with the visa approval letter, you are required to fill, sign and attached a recently taken photo of your face on the form NA1. See Photo guide.

You can download this form to complete it in advance to save time on arrival. Vietnamese-visa-application-form (Form NA1)

Note: If you do not have time to prepare those photos before your departure, you can ask the office taken a photo for you with the price around $2 or $5.

What if my passport has expired? [show answer]

To apply for a visa to Vietnam, your passport must valid for at least 6 month from the date of entry and the passport must remain at least 2 blank page for visa and immigration stamps.

If your passport is about to expire or no blank page remains, you are advised to renew your passport before making visa application.

In case of renewing your passport after getting the visa approval letter, should you make new visa application to get new visa approval letter for matching the information (new passport number, new passport expiry date) in your new passport.

Should I provide you with the exact date of arrival or estimated date? [show answer]

If you plan was fixed and nothing change for it, you should provide your arrival date exactly.

In case you are unsure about your arrival date, you can provide the estimated date of arrival. Please note that you are not allow enter and pick up the visa earlier than then entry date approved in the visa approval.

You can enter later than the entry date approved but the validity of your visa will expire on the exit date as approved in the visa approval letter.

E.g: If you applied for 1 month visa valid from 01 May 2020 to 31 May 2020, you can enter Vietnam any from 01 May 2020 but the visa will expire on 31 May 2020, of course you unable to enter Vietnam from 31 May 2020 due to your visa expiring.

How long prior the trip should I apply for a visa? [show answer]

Although it takes only maximum 3 working days to get your visa approved, it is strongly advised that you apply for a Vietnamese visa 1-2 weeks before your arrival date to make sure we have time to resolve if any error or mistake for the visa application.

In case you do not have much time, you can request rush service in same day or less, but the extra fee is required.

What should I do if I find out that I entered the wrong passport number or any wrong information? [show answer]

Shortly after you submit your application, you should receive a confirmation email in the email address you provided us with. In this email, we confirm the information you entered earlier. If you find out any mistakes, please contact us right away by sending an email to info@vietnamimmigration.org.

If you do not catch the mistake until later, you are advise to re-apply for a new application with the correct information.

What If I Change My Flight and Arrive at Another Airport in Vietnam? [show answer]

Visa on arrival works if you arrive at any of the four international airports: Noi Bai airport (Ha Noi city), Tan Son Nhat airport (Ho Chi Minh City city), Cam Ranh airport (Nha Trang city) and Da Nang airport (Da Nang city).

There is no problem with switching between these four airports.
